Membership Guidelines

  1. The association shall be composed of organizations which join the association on a voluntary-basis.
  2. The criteria to become a member of the association are:
    • It has the infrastructure as a high performance institute as defined in article (3)
    • It has full-time staff in operation located in Asia, can be either single sports or multi-sports based
    • It is officially recognized by their respective government and/or International Olympic Committee / International Paralympic Committee, or Olympic Council of Asia / Asia Paralympic Committee, and is also a national/ international sports federation
    • It agrees with the mission to collaborate with other high performance institute to exchange information and ideas with an aim to promote advancement in sports achievement of Asian region in the international sporting arena
  3. An organization is defined as a high performance institute if it fulfills below criteria:
    • It is officially recognized by their respective government and/or International Olympic Committee / International Paralympic Committee, or Olympic Council of Asia / Asian Paralympic Committee, and is also a national/ international sports federation
    • One of its objectives is to provide a center of excellence of the training and development of international class athletes and coaches
    • It is supported by hardware (advanced facilities and sporting equipment), software (experts, research/information)
    • It provides in-house venue and facilities, state-of-the-art equipment for the targeted sport
    • It has a track record in having athletes trained in the institute being qualified for world-class international multi-sports games and/or professional league and/or title championships in each targeted sport
    • Its elite athlete training is conducted by quality elite training coaches
    • It offers technical and scientific performance enhancing support services to athletes, including but not limited to sports science (physiology, performance and game analysis, biochemistry), sport medicine (doctors consultation, physiotherapy, sports massage, sports psychology, sports nutrition, traditional Chinese medicine), strength and conditioning, sport information and research.
  4. More than one organization from any country or region may apply to become a member as long as the applicant organization fulfills the criteria to become a member
